The craft
From aligned silk to sculpted form
Our wire-edged Ronghua begins with mulberry silk combed and aligned strand by strand. The silk is cut and rolled into even velvet strips, fitted to hand-bent outlines, then shaped and assembled one element at a time.

Dyed mulberry silk is combed on a wooden frame until every strand lies smooth and even.

The aligned silk is cut, held between fine wires and rolled into a dense, even strip.

Fine metal wire is bent against the pattern to define each petal and leaf.
