From Silk Thread to Bloom: What Ronghua Is
August 17, 2026 · HUAVELLE

Ronghua begins with silk thread, but its character comes from the hands that shape it.
A heritage craft, carried forward
Accounts published by the Nanjing municipal government describe Ronghua as a royal tribute in the Tang era and a festive ornament that later spread more widely during the Ming and Qing periods. Today, the craft remains closely associated with Nanjing and Jiangsu's intangible cultural heritage.
How a flower takes shape
Fine silk fibers are dyed, aligned and combed before being bound around wire. The maker trims and shapes the fibers into individual petals or leaves, then assembles the small elements into a dimensional flower. Color transitions, petal curvature and balance are created through patient handwork.
What HUAVELLE does
HUAVELLE works with skilled artisan partners and curates pieces for contemporary wardrobes. We focus on proportion, comfort, secure fittings, finishing and clear product information. We do not present an artisan's handwork as our own; our role is to select, specify and inspect each piece before it reaches you.
