Our Story
We are based in Kunming — the city of eternal spring. Here, flowers are part of everyday life. HUAVELLE began with a simple wish: to hold a bloom a little longer, and carry a little of our city with us.
01 · The city of flowers
Beauty here is never far away.
High on a plateau in southwest China, Kunming barely knows winter and never a true summer, so something is always in bloom. We grew up inside that colour. It is ordinary to us, and we have never stopped finding it beautiful.
But a fresh flower keeps its beauty for only a few days. We wanted to keep the feeling — without asking the flower not to fade.
02 · The transformation
From silk thread to dimensional flower.
Ronghua is a traditional Chinese craft of making flowers from silk. Despite the English nickname “velvet flower,” there is no velvet in it — each petal begins with mulberry silk floss, fine copper wire, patient hands and time.
The luminous raw fibre that gives every petal its soft depth.
Silk is coloured in gentle gradients before it becomes a flower.
Each strand is trimmed, opened and balanced by hand.
Small differences are the signature of the hands that made it.
03 · Known by name
We came to the craft as students.
Every HUAVELLE piece is shaped by hand in a small studio, with a circle of makers we know by name. We learned the slow way — combing, twisting, trimming and shaping — not to claim mastery overnight, but so we can judge every flower with our own hands.
When we tell you how something is made, it is because we have made it ourselves.
04 · Made for real life
Not a costume. Not just for the camera.
A flower should be beautiful and comfortable, or it ends its life in a drawer after one wear. We design for the clothes and moments you already have — a linen shirt, a knit, a slip dress, a wedding.
